So I’m back in my warm and cosy room again. And I can take my time to write this post out.
So.. first off. The chalet was… well, pretty boring to be honest. Because I haven’t recover yet so I can’t take part in much of the activities, and that we really didn’t do much anyway LOL.
Okay, this post will primary be on the camera. Let’s start by saying what I’m impressed about.
- Low light pictures
- “Bokeh” effect
- Video capability
The low light really blew me away. Like, let me show you the actual image in 100% crop. The vending machine on the left
My mouth literally went It’s really pretty amazing for a compact. And for the bokeh, I’ve demonstrated in the previous post. The software is more intelligent than I expected, even though it doesn’t work sometimes. Still, when it does, the result it produces is stunning.
As for the video… I recorded a few in 1080p and it’s.. kind of a pain to upload those. Cause a 40sec clip is 133MB (recorded at avg 28mbits/50p). Still, all the reviews were right, this is the first time I’ve ever handled a camera which it’s video capturing is better than the image. Go search Youtube for some of the samples and you’ll get what I’m saying.
Now for the down parts.
The image quality doesn’t really blow me away
There is no Aperture priority mode
And… that’s about it.
I mean, the quality of the image is GOOD, it just didn’t make me go WOW. Still, I still haven’t tested it inside out yet. Only taken a rough 100 pictures. And only about… 30 is good enough for me.
Anyway, though we didn’t really do much in the chalet, and it wasn’t like exciting or anything. I still think it’s pretty fun. Because well staying overnight with your classmates doing/playing stupid stuffs/games is always better than sleeping at home (:
(though seriously fuck you guys, what’s with the LAN party in a chalet)
Alright, I shall end off with, the best image I THINK I’ve taken.
(oh wait i forget to say, if you’re looking for a really versatile travelling camera. This is the one. It currently costs 550SGD)
So I finally got my hands on the compact camera of my dreams!
I’m at the chalet so I’m borrowing my friend’s laptop to post this (: So um, here are the important features for the camera.
- 16.2 Megapixels
- 16X optical zoom
- Sweep panoramic
- Full HD movie (1920×1080)
- 28mbits video
- Focal Length 24 – 384
- Sensor size 1/2.33 inch
- 9-points autofocus
- Shutter speed 1/1600 ~ 30s
- ISO 100 ~ 3200
- Weight 245g
Yeah almost all of the brought their laptops over. So I didn’t, it’s like a frickin lan party man. I set the color to realistic so that it won’t look over saturated. Of course, it would also mean that the pictures will look less dull. But that’s not important. Cause I want to have full control over the image. The less it’s processed by the camera, the more control I have over the picture!
Here’s a few articles that proved to be a good read. (note: geeky)
It’s a pretty good article that shows us how crafty some hackers are. I mean, like really, well hidden (but in your face) kind of attacks.
And um, this video from Jalopnik. The video in question is this,
Which is cool and everything, but, really, click on the link and look at the comments. It’s way, waaaaay better. In fact, do it. I guarantee laughter. (note: nsfw)
Last but not least, the combination of Mario and Portals
Honestly, if this game out I’ll definitely get it. It’s so damn bloody cool!! (okay now give me sometime to change those links into videos)
So yeah, before this I was always trying to achieve colour of effects as close to reality as possible. But sadly that results in pretty unsaturated pictures that doesn’t feel satisfactory. However, I also don’t like to add effects or contrast to images to make them POP in your face.
I mean, yeah, it looks a heck lot nicer but I don’t like to do it that way.
Hence, I started a new album on fb where I’m currently editing quite a lot of pictures. To make it look like what I feel about it. Hopefully somehow my feelings will get across? Just an experiment to see if people can somehow understand how I feel about that image. So chances are that the colours are not how it looks like physically.
For example, I gave this image this look because it gives me an old, nostalgic feeling. I don’t know if you get it. But yeah.
Or like in this image,
I remember it to be a really bright and a bloody hot day. The sun was just burning on my skin.
This picture is like, when I looked up, and I get the sense of the vastness of the sky. And it’s like, ohh wow..
Oh well, hopefully I’ll be good enough one day to capture all these things down without resorting to
trickery photoshop. For the moment, to show you the degree of editing that could be done. (or how much I’m practicing), here’s two images to compare
p.s. I try not to add any artsy effects (note: hipster) because, that kinda ruins the whole point. I don’t see the world in some pale green/yellow vignette. Nor do I see it in some ultra high contrast mode.
Yep, we “surprised” him at Marina Barrage. Though well, it wasn’t much of a surprise but oh well, it worked out itself somehow!
Before I start on anything, I want to say that I don’t understand why people like to go there so much. There’s like nothing to do over there. Other than flying the stupid but awesome kite, looking at people, and the mesmerizing scenery over there. There’s like a significant amount of people over there on a frickin Monday. (Has September holidays started? I don’t know cause you know, everyday is a holiday to me)
So well, let me just start with the most awesome picture I took that day so that you would bother pressing the frigging read more link
Yes, in case you’re wondering if I’m on hiatus, no I’m not. I just happened to be busy celebrating the end of my exams, as well as Teacher’s day today.
I’m probably going to be broke this month.
Okay wait, not the point, I forgot what I was going to say. But let’s see, I plan to get a new camera soon. I will do an extensive post on it once I get it. Probably going to take a look at it tomorrow and see if there’s any good offers at Comex.
Oh well, before I know it it’s already 1130. I’m pretty darn tired right now. Met up with a couple of ahs friends this afternoon. (a little wasted that I didn’t go back to AHS, didn’t know that got so many went back) oh well.
Anyway, I’ll end this with a lol image.
Yeah I know, the amount of stuffs I have pinned to my taskbar doesn’t really make it minimal but I use them really frequently so.. it’s better than having it strewn all over the desktop!
I also removed the “I just rest before I’m lazy” from the laptop cover
Because well, it makes it look nicer without it blocking the VAIO. And I’m pretty much sick of it so yeah. I had planned to take a picture of all my cleaning stuffs but it’s too much of a pain.
You need some kind of a cleaning solution, a normal cloth, and a micro fibre cloth. I also use my vacuum cleaner. Cause, things get stuck between and under your keys, which is impossible to wipe out. (unless you dismantle everything)
Warning, don’t vacuum the places where there’s fans (like the vent or smth). Cause making the fan spin faster than it should will spoil it. Unless you’re really careful and use a brush of some sort, don’t try it. Well, keeping your computer clean will rid it off stupid problems, and it just makes me feel better when it’s all clean and shiny.
p.s. I feel like removing I’M NOT LAZY. Sometime soon perhaps?
