I have officially moved to LordofGeek,
please visit there instead!
Wait wait wait, before you object. Let me explain why.
First and foremost, the word xtechbiz, has no meaning. I don’t even remember why I came up with that word.
Most of the famous/successful/good blogs have a proper name. And when I say a proper name, it doesn’t need to be something sensible. It just needs to have a meaning. Like, people would put their favourite things, or their names, or some words that make sense.
It’s usual fine if the name does not make sense, but it needs to be easy to remember. It also needs to not sound stupid. (when you say it out loud in your head)
To be brutally honest, xtechbiz fulfils none of those.
Also, the thing of having that senseless name for such a long time is starting to rub me off the wrong way. I’m fine with it as an email address or whatsoever, just, not a blog’s name.
For the first time ever, I’m going to have a poll. Please, if you’re one of the few who visits this blog regularly, just vote, it won’t take a minute. I have a couple of ideas. Of course, you could submit your own suggestions and I’ll take a look.
If the results is conclusive I’ll try my best to wrap up everything in 2 days (:
5 light blue
It all started a few years back in my secondary school, I had a friend called Micah. Now, Micah was a pretty interesting guy. He did lots of funny things but one of the most significant ones was that he always brought sweets to school. It could be mentos, chocolate, some gummy sweet, or more often than not, Eclipse.
In fact, out of all days I’ve seen him. There’s only probably a 5% chance that he didn’t have Eclipse with him. Also, he like to put it in his pocket, and if you ever carried a half eaten box of Eclipse in your pocket, you’ll be familiar with the
CLING! CLANG! CLANK!
That accompanies your every step. So during my last year, I decided that I can’t let this tradition die off. The revitalising sweets that you get during class, the rhythmic metal noise, the faggots who’ll always steal your sweets, I can’t let that fade off!
“Also, I really like the mints.”
Wasn’t planning to do anything today. So it’s inevitable that I got bored. So I started taking random pictures. Sadly I only took 2 stuffs, and picked the best. Which of course, is Yakult, and my awesome phone.
That’s so cute right.
So I realized, 2 pictures is kinda dumb. So here’s 1 more.
Alright, I think my eclipse deserves to have it’s own post.
I went for a networking competition today. Which honestly feels just like an exam, just, levels harder. 60mins is given for 100 questions, followed by 90mins given for practical. (network simulation)
So judging by the lack of prizes, I probably didn’t do very well.
In fact it’s a total waste of time.
There were more participants than I expected. 210 to be exact.
Anyway, I said it’s a waste of time because all almost all the prizes (if not all) went to Nanyang Polytechnic. … annoying.
The other reason is that, they didn’t release our scores.
I mean like, fine, I don’t mind not winning, BUT AT LEAST TELL US HOW WELL WE DID. WE SPENT 150MINS DOING THAT FUCKING TEST.
Either way, I learnt that there are many things that I haven’t learn. So well, on to another arduous learning journey. I’m finally free for a day this week.
edit: I forgot to post this picture up! this was during the prize presentation and there was a drum performance
Flipping mad? Get it? It’s a good pun, shut up.
So anyway, I didn’t went for the chalet today cause well, my body didn’t regenerate like Doctor Who. It’s regrettable, since they’re having BBQ today. Which you know, is like the whole point of going to a chalet. BBQ, then sleep. Okay, plus the games and what not.
ANYWAY. HUGE SHOUT OUT TO THE CUTEST PERSON ON EARTH, FOR HELPING ME GET THE CAMERA AT A DISCOUNT
THANK YOU VERY MUCH 😀
(p.s. details on cam tomorrow ^^ )
Well… where should I start…
It all started 6 years ago. I was just a kid then, and the internet was still pretty much in it’s infancy. If I can recall, I started when I was still using a Pentium III computer. I’m not sure if WordPress was out yet, but if it was, it was probably too clunky for me to use at that time.
So I defaulted to Blogger, which most of my friends were using. (some were using livejournal, hipsters)
I started with the URL of freedomstrike@blogspot. Well, mainly because I was infatuated with Gundam Seed Destiny at that point in time. And there was this Gundam called Freedom Strike. Besides, it’s a pretty unique URL at that point in time and it was easy to remember.
So that name continued for 2 years. It wasn’t really a part of my life then. I just blogged as and when I felt like it. Though I THINK I did try to post everyday (failed pretty badly)
And then, I hit the 500th post! It was a pretty huge thing to me then, as all my post were, proper, wordy post, and not like this… kind of blog. So at the end of 2007 (November) I was thinking…
I am exposing too much personal data into the internet.
At that time, I wanted freedomstrike to get as much views as possible. So I tinkered with DNS search and how Google finds my blog and stuffs like that. When you search for freedomstrike, my blog will come up as the first result. If you search my real name, my blog will come up as the first result. Well, many many things to trick Google into thinking that my blog is some really important website.
Well, it was KIND OF a success. As my blog hits and average of 50views per day with regular peaks at around 70?
But well, that was a stupid move, so I decided to change my entire identity. For some reason, I ended up with this name x-techbiz. It became my blog url. x-techbiz@BS. Yay! It continued for another 500 posts. I renewed the blog at the end of 2009. Retaining the URL, that continued for another 182 posts. (August 22, 2010) Before I thought, well, fuck blogger.
And here I am. Now, the history of this wonderful little blog. To be fully honest, I had this URL since June 2009. I didn’t want anyone stealing my name in case I was making the switch!
If you notice, the dash – disappeared because WordPress didn’t allow it. Well, it’s a little sad but it doesn’t really make the name any easier to pronounce.
So, this blog OFFICIALLY opened at August 2010. It’s been 1 year 1 month since then. At first, I was planning to just write a lot of random online articles for the fun of it, however, one of my good friends told me that, it is pointless to do what everyone else is doing. Just remain the same, and that’ll be your style of writing.
It made perfect sense to me,
so I stuck with this until now.
From there on, I began witness the growth of this blog. Readers are starting to come back more and more often. (even though they just refuse to comment on anything). I started posting a lot of random videos that I want to share with
everyone. (or just myself).
Now, to witness the growth. The first full month, I had only 639 views.
I had 3,166 views on August. Well, it averages at roughly 100 a day. Um, I’ve got to say that I have came a long long way from that kid I was 6 years ago. the week or day view probably wouldn’t make much sense as it fluctuates a lot.
Sadly, and interestingly, I have 12 subscribers. I don’t really know what to make of it. But I’m glad that there are people who are willing to subscribe to it!
As far as comments go, much thanks to superjessleong for posting a whooping total of 408 comments! The rare people that actually make me feel like I’m not totally talking to myself. That’s more or less about it! I’m not going to bore you with all the searches and tags.
Moving on to the future.
Now that I’ve hit my goal of a thousand posts, where will I go from here? I mean, I will obviously continue to blog. But… Will it still be here on WordPress? Or will I feel like going back to Blogger? The answer is…..
Because well, we all know that relationships with ex-es will never work out. As much as Blogger has improved and proves to be a desirable blogging platform, I feel a sense of loyalty towards WordPress that has accompanied me for the past year. I’ll continue trying to improve my writing so that it’s worth reading, and the next 1000 posts,
