So I’m back in my warm and cosy room again. And I can take my time to write this post out.
So.. first off. The chalet was… well, pretty boring to be honest. Because I haven’t recover yet so I can’t take part in much of the activities, and that we really didn’t do much anyway LOL.
Okay, this post will primary be on the camera. Let’s start by saying what I’m impressed about.
- Low light pictures
- “Bokeh” effect
- Video capability
The low light really blew me away. Like, let me show you the actual image in 100% crop. The vending machine on the left
My mouth literally went It’s really pretty amazing for a compact. And for the bokeh, I’ve demonstrated in the previous post. The software is more intelligent than I expected, even though it doesn’t work sometimes. Still, when it does, the result it produces is stunning.
As for the video… I recorded a few in 1080p and it’s.. kind of a pain to upload those. Cause a 40sec clip is 133MB (recorded at avg 28mbits/50p). Still, all the reviews were right, this is the first time I’ve ever handled a camera which it’s video capturing is better than the image. Go search Youtube for some of the samples and you’ll get what I’m saying.
Now for the down parts.
The image quality doesn’t really blow me away
There is no Aperture priority mode
And… that’s about it.
I mean, the quality of the image is GOOD, it just didn’t make me go WOW. Still, I still haven’t tested it inside out yet. Only taken a rough 100 pictures. And only about… 30 is good enough for me.
Anyway, though we didn’t really do much in the chalet, and it wasn’t like exciting or anything. I still think it’s pretty fun. Because well staying overnight with your classmates doing/playing stupid stuffs/games is always better than sleeping at home (:
(though seriously fuck you guys, what’s with the LAN party in a chalet)
Alright, I shall end off with, the best image I THINK I’ve taken.
(oh wait i forget to say, if you’re looking for a really versatile travelling camera. This is the one. It currently costs 550SGD)
So I finally got my hands on the compact camera of my dreams!
I’m at the chalet so I’m borrowing my friend’s laptop to post this (: So um, here are the important features for the camera.
- 16.2 Megapixels
- 16X optical zoom
- Sweep panoramic
- Full HD movie (1920×1080)
- 28mbits video
- Focal Length 24 – 384
- Sensor size 1/2.33 inch
- 9-points autofocus
- Shutter speed 1/1600 ~ 30s
- ISO 100 ~ 3200
- Weight 245g
Yeah almost all of the brought their laptops over. So I didn’t, it’s like a frickin lan party man. I set the color to realistic so that it won’t look over saturated. Of course, it would also mean that the pictures will look less dull. But that’s not important. Cause I want to have full control over the image. The less it’s processed by the camera, the more control I have over the picture!
“There is no light without darkness.”
Well. That’s probably the main point of this entire post.
Few months ago, I wrote that I want to make myself happy.
And it’s the holidays now! So I have some time to think about things I usually don’t have time for. As usual, it’s the strangest string of events that lead me to think about this.
- Going out
- Staying home
- Doing things alone (hobby)
- Playing games with other people
- Playing games alone
- Trying something new
- Sticking to things I’m used to
Something like that. Example of hobby could be drawing photography or some geeky stuffs. And trying new things can be learning hard stuffs online or drawing on a tablet, and sticking to things I’m used to can be just using pencil and paper, or just sticking to the tech stuffs I know.
So yeah, I would say that there is SOME SORT of link between all of them.
“Well, I’m doing what I want without much stress/responsibilities right now. Am I happy?”
That thought came to my mind. If I had to choose no matter what, I guess, yeah, I’m happy.
Well… where should I start…
It all started 6 years ago. I was just a kid then, and the internet was still pretty much in it’s infancy. If I can recall, I started when I was still using a Pentium III computer. I’m not sure if WordPress was out yet, but if it was, it was probably too clunky for me to use at that time.
So I defaulted to Blogger, which most of my friends were using. (some were using livejournal, hipsters)
I started with the URL of freedomstrike@blogspot. Well, mainly because I was infatuated with Gundam Seed Destiny at that point in time. And there was this Gundam called Freedom Strike. Besides, it’s a pretty unique URL at that point in time and it was easy to remember.
So that name continued for 2 years. It wasn’t really a part of my life then. I just blogged as and when I felt like it. Though I THINK I did try to post everyday (failed pretty badly)
And then, I hit the 500th post! It was a pretty huge thing to me then, as all my post were, proper, wordy post, and not like this… kind of blog. So at the end of 2007 (November) I was thinking…
I am exposing too much personal data into the internet.
At that time, I wanted freedomstrike to get as much views as possible. So I tinkered with DNS search and how Google finds my blog and stuffs like that. When you search for freedomstrike, my blog will come up as the first result. If you search my real name, my blog will come up as the first result. Well, many many things to trick Google into thinking that my blog is some really important website.
Well, it was KIND OF a success. As my blog hits and average of 50views per day with regular peaks at around 70?
But well, that was a stupid move, so I decided to change my entire identity. For some reason, I ended up with this name x-techbiz. It became my blog url. x-techbiz@BS. Yay! It continued for another 500 posts. I renewed the blog at the end of 2009. Retaining the URL, that continued for another 182 posts. (August 22, 2010) Before I thought, well, fuck blogger.
And here I am. Now, the history of this wonderful little blog. To be fully honest, I had this URL since June 2009. I didn’t want anyone stealing my name in case I was making the switch!
If you notice, the dash – disappeared because WordPress didn’t allow it. Well, it’s a little sad but it doesn’t really make the name any easier to pronounce.
So, this blog OFFICIALLY opened at August 2010. It’s been 1 year 1 month since then. At first, I was planning to just write a lot of random online articles for the fun of it, however, one of my good friends told me that, it is pointless to do what everyone else is doing. Just remain the same, and that’ll be your style of writing.
It made perfect sense to me,
so I stuck with this until now.
From there on, I began witness the growth of this blog. Readers are starting to come back more and more often. (even though they just refuse to comment on anything). I started posting a lot of random videos that I want to share with
everyone. (or just myself).
Now, to witness the growth. The first full month, I had only 639 views.
I had 3,166 views on August. Well, it averages at roughly 100 a day. Um, I’ve got to say that I have came a long long way from that kid I was 6 years ago. the week or day view probably wouldn’t make much sense as it fluctuates a lot.
Sadly, and interestingly, I have 12 subscribers. I don’t really know what to make of it. But I’m glad that there are people who are willing to subscribe to it!
As far as comments go, much thanks to superjessleong for posting a whooping total of 408 comments! The rare people that actually make me feel like I’m not totally talking to myself. That’s more or less about it! I’m not going to bore you with all the searches and tags.
Moving on to the future.
Now that I’ve hit my goal of a thousand posts, where will I go from here? I mean, I will obviously continue to blog. But… Will it still be here on WordPress? Or will I feel like going back to Blogger? The answer is…..
Because well, we all know that relationships with ex-es will never work out. As much as Blogger has improved and proves to be a desirable blogging platform, I feel a sense of loyalty towards WordPress that has accompanied me for the past year. I’ll continue trying to improve my writing so that it’s worth reading, and the next 1000 posts,
HERE I COMEEEEEEEE!!
Yep, we “surprised” him at Marina Barrage. Though well, it wasn’t much of a surprise but oh well, it worked out itself somehow!
Before I start on anything, I want to say that I don’t understand why people like to go there so much. There’s like nothing to do over there. Other than flying the stupid but awesome kite, looking at people, and the mesmerizing scenery over there. There’s like a significant amount of people over there on a frickin Monday. (Has September holidays started? I don’t know cause you know, everyday is a holiday to me)
So well, let me just start with the most awesome picture I took that day so that you would bother pressing the frigging read more link
Well, it’s not the actual day. But I visited my friend today and ate some pretty good food ^^
There was this really awesome view and I just couldn’t help but take a picture of it!
I can’t wait till I get my camera so that I can take even better pictures than this~ You know, thinking about it, Singapore really has a lot of trees. Well, just so happens that this area has more than usual. Still, it makes for a rather pretty sight (:
